Child-Centered Approach
Dr. Maria Montessori developed an educational approach known as the Montessori Method, which is the foundation of the Eagles Child Care Center curriculum.
It focuses on self-directed learning, hands-on exploration (children’s use of natural materials such as wood, glass, and metal to learn concepts), and social-emotional development, which refers to the intentional development of children’s emotional intelligence and social skills through a structured environment that fosters empathy, respect for others and self, self-esteem, independence, compassion, caring, effective communication, honesty, ethics, and conflict resolution, often achieved through “grace and courtesy”-focused activities that promote positive interactions within the classroom community.
At ECCC, our Montessori classrooms are designed to offer children the ability to choose their own activities and learn at their own pace. The teacher acts as a guide, providing support and encouragement as needed.
